Emma Watson was just shy of 10 years old when she took on the role of bookish Hermione Granger in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” At 19, she’s ready to move onto the next phase of her life, but she’s not leaving the “Harry Potter” franchise behind just yet. The sixth installment — “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” — will be hitting theaters July 15! And since the seventh book is being split into two films, this means Emma is currently promoting one movie, shooting another, and in pre-production on a third. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this tired in my life!” she exclaims in the July issue of Teen Vogue. “I literally wear my pajama bottoms to set.”
If Emma thinks she’s exhausted now, wait ’til she starts college this fall … while she’s still filming! “I’ve been saying that I wanted to go to university since I was 11, so if they didn’t let me, I’d be pretty upset,” she shares. Although she hopes to live in the freshman dorms with a roommate, she won’t say where she will be attending school. “I probably sound like a paranoid nut, but I’m doing this because I want to be normal,” she says. “I really want anonymity.”
Watson may also be headed to school because she’s not quite sure if she wants to be a movie star when she grows up. “There’s not a burning passion in me that I have to act and I don’t care what I do,” she admits. “Until something comes along that I feel as strongly about as I did Hermione — like, I felt that it was life or death — I don’t want to act again.”
Perhaps she could find a career in the world of fashion? Emma is a fan of high-end brands such as Chanel, Balenciaga, and Burberry, but is careful to make sure she never looks overdone. “There’s nothing interesting about looking perfect — you lose the point,” she notes. “You want what youre wearing to say something about you, about who you are.”
